what can you absolutely….

not get rid of?

what are the things you absolutely, positively, cannot part with? my list is getting smaller and smaller. i feel like i am on round 4,700(ish). moving into this tiny space has been the most unexpected silver lining when it comes to stuff. it’s not the first time i’ve mentioned it i know, but since the last time i said so, i’ve purged and evaluated at least twice more so there obviously is more to say on the subject.. don’t you agree?

it is amazing the amount of things we accumulate. and the kitchen. oh my. so many things. we, me + him = two, had at least 75 glasses. juice glasses, bigger juice glasses, tall glasses, fancy glasses, mason jar glasses, glasses with handles, vintage glasses. i mean really. we entertain tons but usually not to the tune of 75 people every time and lets face it, when 75 people are coming we’re probably using plastic. hello. and i really like all of the glasses or we wouldn’t have them in the first place. but.. most of them were not dishwasher friendly and turns out we don’t love stuff that isn’t dishwasher friendly: i.e. hard to clean, reaching with stretched fingers into the bottom of the glass. off to someone else’s home they go.

and clothes, and shoes, and make-up, and books. slowly but surely, what i thought was a pretty small stash of stuff is truly becoming a tiny stash of well-curated, much loved items. have you done any purging lately? how do you feel having done it?

*please & thank you* link back to us if you re-post something you see here.

    I will be purging again very soon. And I feel the same way. I like the idea of finding exactly what I need when I need it. I read once that we only wear about 20% of our clothes and we wear those things 80% of the time.

      so true! of the many personal styling clients i’ve had over the past 15 years you are exactly right! but i love having a *full* closet of well curated items that i do wear all the time.. (;

    that is such a mind boggling question, my brain literally has the mac pinwheel going and going and going…I am interested to know some of your items you cannot part with since you are eons ahead of me. I do know how good it feels because after I parted with 3 TRUNKLOADS of closet items (thanks to YOUR organizing/style prowess) I felt the best I have ever felt. It’s just so hard for me to make decisions about personal things which have memories wrapped up in them, and then of course there’s that, “Well, I may use/need that again someday”, or my kids could use that someday…” I have a dream that you swoop in while I’m sleeping and do my whole house with one blink, like Mary Poppins:) I 100% agree though, MANHATTAN, here you come!

    An external drive of pictures (or one carefully curated album), my watch, glasses, kindle & wedding rings and diamond earrings from my hubby. Clothes…sorry you are in charge of that…I just can’t do it. And everything else, well…i guess they didn’t make the list.

    I love this! When we got married we registered for fancy wine glasses.. one for white, one for red. They have to be hand washed and are a pain in the you know what to clean! I finally realized that dishwasher safe stemless is the way to go and haven’t used our pretty wine glasses in YEARS! I think it’s time to let those go :) For me, it feels so good to clean out and get rid of things. I don’t think I have ever gotten rid of something and regretted it.

      except for really good skillets, if it doesn’t go in the dishwasher it really isn’t worth it!! haha! glad someone agrees with me on that one (;
