window framing.

When you take down an interior wall and realize there’s no framing to the house (except for the brick wall) you aren’t too surprised at much after that. So… no big shocker that when the old windows came out that we had nothing but a hole in the wall. The original windows had lots of character and I wish we could have kept them, however, they were single pane, didn’t open, and let every single breeze in like an open door. We couldn’t even order exact replicas (with multi-pane glass) because they were so outdated. We ordered simple white framed windows, no fancy adornments, and most importantly, nothing’s getting through these puppies, triple pane glass. Even the large curved window on the front of the house is going to be triple pane, but will be a non-opening window. To have it open a big wood sash/bar would have went right though the middle at eye level, we’d rather have an unobstructed view and have the door open, than a split view out the picture window. Basic diy on this project, lots of measuring, cutting, using the nail gun to secure, and topping off with weatherproofing safeguard. Got questions we didn’t cover, give the hubby a shout!
