suburbia
1→ we watched the ‘burbs last night, we both have a weakness for 80′s music, i have a weakness for 80′s movies, this one, we both love. tom hanks really is genius, and tammy tambo (for all of you fellow northern exposure fans), and of course.. carrie fisher. do you live in the suburbs? i’ve never. i grew up in a town too small to have suburbs, then he and i lived out of central charlotte but a suburb it was not, then back in the middle of town, definitely not a suburb, and now we live in a town too small to have suburbs (remember.. only 1 square mile). technically we’re a suburb of denver i guess, but not in any way that you would truly think suburb.
when i think of true blue ‘burbs, it’s driving into your neighborhood and 300 houses and 15 minutes later you’re finally pulling into your own, looks like your neighbors, driveway. box stores and fast food everywhere, and only. i think it would make me crazy. i’d like to live in three separate settings: our cute little mayberry town of edgewater, the big apple, and nothing out our door but beautiful landscape and open skies (in the south of course!). all wildly different, all so appealing.
do you dream of the ‘burbs, the country, city life? what’s your ideal? and what do you love/hate about where you are right now?
