…. oh how i love summer. and air conditioning. it’s in the hundred range everyday and having the ac fixed is pretty much the best thing ever. it was not cheap, but, when we walk inside hot hot hot, it’s a bargain to feel that cool air and to sleep in peace. without waking up a hundred times after it took 4 hours to get to sleep in the first place. it’s funny because everyone we’ve met here brags that you do not need ac in colorado, funny thing though, every time we go to target or home depot someone is loading one up in their car…
we went to the pool on friday and it was the perfect day. the slide, it doesn’t look like so much does it? but, for the over 4 ft crowd, we went down that thing like rockets. he would bank going around curves where he thought he’d go right on over. the water was perfect, a little shade here and there, a book, some snacks, a good friday. which turned out to be a good thing because…
one of our neighbors stopped by to see about borrowing our super bright and big yard sale signs and when your across the street neighbor is having a yard sale and you still have stuff you need to sell, well guess what? that means we had one on the fly to. it lasted all day saturday and sunday. we’ve almost downsized everything, a few things left and our transition into 528 sq. ft is over. and we are over the moon happy about it because it’s like pulling teeth selling stuff here. in the south they just about get you out of bed to buy whatever it is you’re selling but here if it’s over 50 cents it’s like you’ve committed a crime. phew, tough crowd. with persistence and three times the charm, we can happily say we did good. finally.
and that was the whole enchilada. how was your weekend?

how was your 4th? ours was super busy, doing stuff we never ever imagined (at least not so soon).. see here for all of the secret keeping we’ve been up to. and just as I do every year, i’m feeling like summer is over. i *love* the 4th of july.. it’s one of my favorite holidays, plus it’s our wedding anniversary weekend.. and when it’s over.. i feel like summer has just slipped away. do any of you feel like this too?
of course there’s still plenty of warm weather left but now the focus is.. it’ll be labor day before you know it and back-to-school (which is already in full gear in stores) instead of thoughts of sparklers and swimming pools full-time. we saw one of the best firework shows we’ve ever seen anywhere on the 3rd and best of all, we had a front row seat from our back yard. our little town boasts one of the biggest fireworks displays in the denver area and we got lucky enough to be so close we don’t even have to walk down the block.
in the last weeks of summer i’ll still be looking for the elusive lightening bugs (and continue hoping they do have them in colorado), a bbq or two, watching jaws…a must-watch-again summer movie, and ice cream dates with my blue-eyed boy. you?
