life in the fast lane

it rained and was cloudy a lot this weekend, and i’ve been missing husband quite a bit because that boy is busy. and right now we only have the one car so… we watched the best (new’ish) disney movie, tangled, so good, have you seen it? and we did have a pizza date night that was perfect. when we lived in our first house we had a little, off the beaten path pizza place that we loved so much. every friday we’d go and sit in the same booth and have the same waitress and order the same pizza to share and i always think about how special those friday nights were. this little pizza place is so much like that and we already have our own waitress and i’m thinking of the future friday nights we can spend there (split with patxi’s once they open).

i love good fresh food, but i wish on the very tip top of the best foods you could ever eat list there was burgers, pizza & pancakes. i mean really. i think i’m going to try a new veggie burger recipe a week until i find the one. and it won’t have beets in it. i love beets, pickled especially, but when i’ve ordered a veggie burger (and nowhere in the description does it says beets), it arrives, and i take that first bite to find out oh, a beet burger. no, no this will not do. in the land of veggie burgers there just is no way to make beets taste like burger. if you don’t ever order veggies burgers, and most of ya probably don’t, then this is a moot point, so i’ll move on… i did try a little tip of putting pumpkin pie spice in my latte and it is good!! not quite starbucks pumpkin spice but not to be dismissed either. definitely a trick i’ll keep on keepin on with.

happy saturday! do you have anything fun planned for your weekend? he’s finishing that project i hinted at earlier in the week (we had a rain delay) but first things first, we’re going to two festivals with friends and soaking up some of the last summer heat (we’re going to be in mid-eighties again).

and…i think i mentioned at least once or twice my affinity for starbucks pumpkin spice lattes. well, my sweet husband bought me a pumpkin spice via packet, and hello amazing. they only cost $6.95 (from a target starbucks) with each package containing 5 sleeves. i tried sprinkling just a fraction of a sleeve into my homemade latte and perfecto!!! same amazing taste and now i’ll get like 2 dozen drinks per via packet. i feel like i’m getting away with something bigtime. just saying, you might want to try it!

do  you drink coffee everyday? and if so, is the day off if you don’t have it? or if not coffee a coke? i don’t drink caffeine except in my occasional coke zero, if i have caffeinated coffee i feel so jittery and sick. however…. i love my decaf lattes, and i do feel like i’m missing something if i don’t have one in the morning. it’s like i’ve been cheated. i love the smell of coffee, the flavor (in a latte mind you) and just drinking something hot. and you maybe remember me & tea (; not such a good pair do we make.

since we haven’t been totally set up this year, i sometimes get a decaf from starbucks to make my lattes (i prefer rice milk, and they only offer soy); and every time i go i get this: we have no decaf, i can wait while they brew a cup or have a decaf americano instead. i always wondered how i timed it that every single visit no decaf was brewed, until.. this weekend, as i waited for my cup to brew the barista and i started chatting and he said they never have decaf, it’s always wait for a cup or the americano. so it wasn’t just me and bad timing. did you know this? are we that small of a percentage wanting decaf? on the upside, it’s always fresh. (;
