three new things

9

we’ve got three new exciting things at our house…..part of our surround sound is installed and making movies much better. the last two pics are speakers that are hidden behind the tv, and…we have more going in the bedroom and both bathrooms. (we kinda like everything loud.. you?)

the vintage fridge is gone and our shiny new french door one is blessfully drip free. (and will probably never be this clean again) and hallelujah for this ceiling fan. here’s the thing, since, for the first time ever, i wasn’t going to be in the south in the summer, it was the perfect chance to finally have a fancy light fixture in the bedroom. but we missed that air flowing down on us at night so much we did not adapt well. this ceiling fan, best-thing-ever.

do you have any foods that you just cannot make yourself like? or even try? if you have foods you won’t even try i’d love to know what (besides crazy nobody-in-their-right-mind-would-ever-eat-foods). i’ll start. black licorice. tomatoes that aren’t salsa or ketchup or spaghetti sauce. horseradish (absolute horror crosses my face as i frantically look for anything to take the residue taste far, far away). raw onions. brown mustard.. while most contain zero horseradish, all seem to taste suspiciously like it. fennel, another food that contains none, but tastes just like black licorice. then there are foods that just don’t jive because of texture, blackberries for instance, too-many-seeds… for me. oatmeal, a lot of texture. sesame seeds on buns, not necessary. cilantro, just can’t love it. on the other hand i have some favorites that turn up lots of noses… okra, grits, pickled beets. your turn…will you share??

…what do you need for a good nights sleep? a particular blanket? how many pillows? what size bed? covers? pjs? for me it’s polar bear cold in the room, cotton pjs, a heavy comforter…pulled up high on my neck.. nothing gets in that way (; a loud fan, 3 pillows, a king size bed, total darkness and the husband. you? (and we thought since we’re not living in the hot hot south that we could for the first time evah get away with no ceiling fan.. but no dice, without that air flowing down, we’re just not the same)

friday fun

5

i only use little spoons and little forks, i favor the inside pieces on the celery bunch (you know, the palest green stalks that are softer), i love the color peach, i always choose tails, i have lip balm scattered everywhere and have a mini panic when i’m on the go and realize i forgot to grab a stick… luckily it’s sold everywhere…for a dollar, biggest pet peeve.. people who lie, love people who boldly tell the truth whether it’s popular or not, i think if you sneeze three times in a row it’s good luck, and i love pancakes, pizza, chocolate cake, and television (what’s not to like right?). can you share?

…in the south suspenders are always in fashion, from holding up the levi’s to dressing up the tux. on little boys, old men, and groomsmen, rainbow colored to james bond white. (get the cool ones below here) and with a bowtie.. oh.my.

dinner etiquette..

0

→ do cell phones at the dinner table bother you? elbows on the table? hats on at the table? what dinner etiquette is a no no for you? i’m not a big fan of cell phones at dinner, on call? babysitter? understandable.. have it on vibrate and if a call comes in step away from the table and other diners.
what about the person that says it’s business, i have to take it, but they don’t excuse themselves, they stay, everyone is then silent waiting for them to be done talking to whoever.. it’s disruptive (and rude). you may have business, or any number of things, but kindly get up and mosey on along somewhere else to chat about it and dinner can go along uninterrupted, please & thank you. what about when you’re at home, if someone finishes before another and gets up and goes about their merry way, bad etiquette or no biggie? funny noises while eating (remember matt dillon humming as he ate in the flamingo kid?), kids screaming..take them outside or ride it out? what’s your don’t ever do this at my dinner table rules?
