patxispaxtis 1patxis 2 patxis 3

we had a very special date yesterday, and i have much to share mañana, but today just this snippet. it is no secret that i am completely smitten with patxi’s pizza after discovering them in san francisco; and considering it had been a decade prior to that visit since i’d had a good deep dish, i think we are doing exceptionally well having only gone yesterday and one other time since arriving back in denver. this is what i tell myself as i continue to eat ooey gooey leftovers.

now i will tell you how insanely good (and frustrating) it is to learn new things. i recently joined the big leagues (; and purchased a fancy, has a bazillion features, dslr camera. however, after a not so successful first go around with it i’ve been hesitant to use it. for starters i couldn’t even get the photos from the camera to the computer (how sad is that?!). i did finally (after my 5th or 6th attempt) realize that while i cannot get the cord that goes from the camera to computer to do a damn thing, uh HELLO, i can just stick the blasted photo card directly into my mac. hallelujah was sang multiple times having figured this out. yes you can laugh, because no, it was not obvious to me from the get go.

this moment felt so triumphant that it almost made me forget how insanely frustrated i was taking photos and not being able to do very-simple-things. oh-my-lord-in-heaven i am a slow learner when it comes to technology. this is my point people, stretch those wings, learn new things, or you’re likely to be ran over by a five year old. i phone, here i come.

bookstore mag

p.s. we also popped into the bookstore the other day (best photo of me yet!) and all of you fellow airstream lovers, have you seen how many silver bullet hotels are popping up? sunset magazine’s camping issue is out and oh how we are ready for a road trip, we are scheming for next week (fingers crossed for good weather!). and don’t you miss domino magazine? the spring issue is out and is very good, but it’s just not the same as when it was once a month. sigh.. please come back monthly domino!

it is so good to be home. me and barry gibb (; have been finding it hard to do much of anything. (i would have never thought it but i am 100% smitten with the husbands beard. in love. he’s promised to keep it until it starts getting warm) we’ve been having blue hair bed times, movies in bed in the early mornings.. we’re still on east coast time apparently. we’re planning take-out from patxi’s of san francisco this weekend, they opened in denver after we headed south and i am beyond ready for an entire deep dish pizza pie of my own; followed by running, which we have done twice since being home and i don’t love it any more than i did before leaving but two words: deep. dish. we watched flight last night and i never want to fly again. i am seriously sad over no mail saturdays. we have two mega big diy home projects happening in the next two weeks that has us just a little bit giddy. that husband of mine, he’s doing some really good things for us, and he’s cute, i think i’ll keep him around. have a good one everybody!

life in the fast lane

it rained and was cloudy a lot this weekend, and i’ve been missing husband quite a bit because that boy is busy. and right now we only have the one car so… we watched the best (new’ish) disney movie, tangled, so good, have you seen it? and we did have a pizza date night that was perfect. when we lived in our first house we had a little, off the beaten path pizza place that we loved so much. every friday we’d go and sit in the same booth and have the same waitress and order the same pizza to share and i always think about how special those friday nights were. this little pizza place is so much like that and we already have our own waitress and i’m thinking of the future friday nights we can spend there (split with patxi’s once they open).

i love good fresh food, but i wish on the very tip top of the best foods you could ever eat list there was burgers, pizza & pancakes. i mean really. i think i’m going to try a new veggie burger recipe a week until i find the one. and it won’t have beets in it. i love beets, pickled especially, but when i’ve ordered a veggie burger (and nowhere in the description does it says beets), it arrives, and i take that first bite to find out oh, a beet burger. no, no this will not do. in the land of veggie burgers there just is no way to make beets taste like burger. if you don’t ever order veggies burgers, and most of ya probably don’t, then this is a moot point, so i’ll move on… i did try a little tip of putting pumpkin pie spice in my latte and it is good!! not quite starbucks pumpkin spice but not to be dismissed either. definitely a trick i’ll keep on keepin on with.

we are both dreaming of the road. it’s been too long now. in particular i’ve been thinking of san francisco. we had the best week there last summer and i really wish we would have had a repeat this year. the farmers market, patxi’s pizza, the golden gate bridge. sigh. we also miss seattle and thoughts of visiting canada for the first time. and montana. the beach. so many places. how long of being settled does it take you fellow travelers to feel antsy for the road?

we thought we’d cure a little of our yaya’s by taking a trip to aspen this week. so three things came up that cannot wait. good things, potentially good things, but things that keep us from jumping in the car. hopefully by the end of the weekend it will all have been worth it and next week we’ll be blogging all about day trips, aspen, and things we see along the way. what are your weekend plans?
