this week….

3

this week he’s been busy building all of the soffits for the house, although we won’t be spending lots of time on the exterior of the house (and yard) this year, a few projects are musts while the weather is good. painting the soffits (which he built using 4×8 sheets found here), the front porch roof has a bit more finish work, the gingerbread on the front is getting painted, and if all goes well today (you just never know..), he’s cutting and attaching the gingerbread to the back peak (above pics).

in other news.. our shiny new fridge was having an issue or two as well and sears is bringing us a replacement today, we just might have our first ice cubes by the weekend.. we feel like we’re in a seinfeld episode, no soup ice for you! and the vintage fridge went on it’s merry way yesterday to someone wanting just a freezer, so long live the golden egg.

and, it’s been nice and hot here which i love, but…. our ac/heating unit that we had installed has not been cooperating and we have not had the best of luck on finding reliable service for it. three hot nights of no sleep and it became numero uno on the list of must-be-done-yesterday. it’s not uber wallet friendly getting the problems fixed but we finally found a company that is fully versed in split systems (we have a fujitsu) and they’re coming back today to bring us cool cool air ( i hope), so fingers crossed for us people!! thank goodness it’s not 118 degrees here like lake havasu was yesterday, how do they do it?!

looky-loo review. lake havasu

0

we blew in & out of lake havasu so we can’t comment a lot on the camping… the campground is above the lake so you have a view of it in the distance. to one side of the campground is a storage yard and on the other side a hill with a gas station leading down to a boat ramp for the lake. (fyi.. there is no beach, lakeside, etc. in all of lake havasu, only boat ramp access)

the front desk person was very friendly, the grounds are your basic parking lot, the bathrooms were clean, just worn down with age. the pool is quite small, if this is part of your plan, it might not cut it for you. it is exceedingly hot in L.H. and the campground has no shade, major consideration to keep in mind. overall, for a one-nighter it works just fine and they take passport america.

road to lake havasu

1

we cruised out of mesa (reluctantly.. the resort & pool really sucked us in!)
headed toward lake havasu…some pictures of the road in between.

the road winds along the colorado river (separating arizona & california)

after seeing the above waterways & marshes we were excited about lake havasu…

and then we saw this:

spring break 2011. oye.

it is very hot here. 85 degrees feels like 105.
think ant under a magnifying glass + lots of partying. double oye.
this is spring, we were told 130 in the summer. ouch.
