happy weekend everyone! we have sunshine on the forecast and please let it come and stay, like for good. this cute blue-eyed boy took me on a date to the ogden theater last night to see jim james perform. wow. we saw him (with my morning jacket) in concert last summer at redrocks and were blown away by his voice live. we could not pass up the opportunity to see him in a small venue because with all great artists you just never know how long you’ll have that chance.
his stage presence is amazing, a little bit old school. his voice goes without saying. and his band, there was a drum solo that started with three (i guess not exactly a solo at that point) and ended with the main drummer and the whole thing was mind boggling it was so good. talent in spades. if you have any opportunity to see this tour, go! we listened to some of the album we weren’t familiar with before going and live was night and day by comparison. (it’s hard to beat watching him make the music come alive)
otherwise, we’re working on that new closet door, it’s been a bit of a pita. and we have a few other little diy’s on the agenda for the weekend, and if it’s sunny you know a lot of soaking that in will be on the forefront. in case i haven’t said it lately, thank you to all who follow and comment and share in this little corner of the world of ours, we appreciate you so much! makes everything seem bigger you know?

it is so good to be home. me and barry gibb (; have been finding it hard to do much of anything. (i would have never thought it but i am 100% smitten with the husbands beard. in love. he’s promised to keep it until it starts getting warm) we’ve been having blue hair bed times, movies in bed in the early mornings.. we’re still on east coast time apparently. we’re planning take-out from patxi’s of san francisco this weekend, they opened in denver after we headed south and i am beyond ready for an entire deep dish pizza pie of my own; followed by running, which we have done twice since being home and i don’t love it any more than i did before leaving but two words: deep. dish. we watched flight last night and i never want to fly again. i am seriously sad over no mail saturdays. we have two mega big diy home projects happening in the next two weeks that has us just a little bit giddy. that husband of mine, he’s doing some really good things for us, and he’s cute, i think i’ll keep him around. have a good one everybody!

any fun plans for the weekend peeps? do you think punxsutawney phil will see his shadow? i know i would like to stay in bed in front of the tube and not see my shadow for the entire weekend, not going to happen though. i do want to watch groundhog day (again), maybe (please!) get a little extra sleep and try to not feel like i am going completely crazy. i think i might have hit a wall. i’m pretty sure of it.

atlantic + pacific meet, bottleneck, and you’ve got the drake passage. northern antarctica bound anybody?? ice, penguins, unspoiled landscapes; but i do not, nor foresee ever having, the wherewithal to stomach the two day passage (with potential of 25-80 ft waves along the way) to see any of it. this video gives you an idea of what rough really means, i could.not.do.it. could you? have you been, or are you planning to go? it’s fascinating, but i’ll have to to rely on all of you braver than i to take good photos…
and… it’s tgif! although lately everyday seems the same, we’re constantly asking each other what day it is. as a treat for having made it a full month and 300 hours so far we’re getting massages, happy dance, happy dance! charlotte has a massage school and for 50 (hopefully seems like forever) minutes we’re getting pampered.. heaven for the low low price of $25. and maybe sleeping in till 7 on sunday, woohoo! (; do you have fun plans for the weekend? and helloooo… only 18 days till christmas!

we woke up to SNOW!! it wasn’t in the forecast and we were flat out shocked when we opened the door this morning. october 5th is sooo early (to a southerner). it is pretty, and you wouldn’t believe how crisp the air is these days. the leaf change is almost complete as well, and now seeing snow, this is no big surprise i guess. wasn’t it just summer? we’re going to a fall festival this weekend and drinking some hot cider (which will probably be the longest line since the high is 40 degrees tomorrow. yowzers.) what are you up to?

i wish i could say … look at OUR new sod! but at least i can say.. look how good our neighbors yard looks! we have officially moved into a top slot of our blocks puniest looking yards. oh well, it’s almost winter, no one will notice, right? dave and the husband (under the watchful eye of cody) turned giant mud pit into greener pastures and as stated, us a teensy bit green with envy.
denver has officially discovered the misters talents and he is & has been, crazy busy, little camp1899 is on hold. if only i could play a tape and his talents would seep into my brain while i sleep. oh the things i could do with that technology. learn french, spanish, heck, every language. so many things.

what are your plans for the weekend? if you have any free time to read i highly recommend: where’d you go bernadette? absolute brilliant writing. i tried very hard not to read it in one sitting because i wanted to make it last.. i made it two days. i recently (late to the party) read gone girl. have you read it? it is also amazing writing, although it frustrated me… one minute loathing him, the next her, and then just wanting to know well what? just get it over with already, what what what is going to happen. and lots of candles, plenty of cake, wise words from miss quindlen and another really good read. do you have a favorite genre of books? i am an avid mystery/cop/whodoneit reader, my absolute favorite being john sandfords lucas davenport & virgil flowers series.. if you haven’t read them and you love a good series, you are going to be head-over-heels.
