this video made me laugh so hard that i was practically crying, hilarious.. but i never evah want to have friends like those. we also watched argo and wow. i was stressed watching it, it’s that good. and if you missed (or want to watch again) ben affleck’s academy award speech, it’s touching and made me appreciate the movie and his work on it even more.

do you ever completely unplug? yesterday i didn’t turn on the computer for even a minute, and while i won’t always do this, it was a really nice, relaxing day. sometimes the computer is nothing but fun (hello pinterest!) but even when just for a day it felt good to unwind one hundred percent. we were very lazy,
and watched a lot of snow fall. (maybe the last one of the season? maybe?)

on the road again…

3

well kids, it’s that time of year again! we’re on the road to charlotte and are cruising through nebraska as you read this. we might stay over in lincoln tonight, any recommendations for lincoln or other nebraska must sees? we’re sad to be leaving our little town of edgewater, but excited to be going south, we both really miss those southern ways. we’re doing a little meandering on the way and even planned a fun getaway with a certain miss lindsey and her husband. helloooo sandy beaches, please be warm & sunny when we get there. and then, work. the husbands clients are anxiously awaiting his arrival because, can you believe, it’s time to hang christmas lights? (well in a couple of weeks anyway..). time is going by so fast, it seems like a blink since we were headed back from christmas season last year. i’ve been thinking a lot about all the changes we’ve made these past two years.. more to share later because honey child… we’ve got some packing of the car to do!

edgewater & morrison

4

whenever we’ve gone to redrocks for a concert (the whole two times so far if you’re keeping track) we’ve talked about stopping in morrison, colorado to see the town (it’s on the way), but there’s always tailgating that he musn’t miss so… we zip on by. we made it this past saturday after leaving the corn maze and it’s one more cool little town on the list of many we’ve discovered in colorado. if the rest of the u.s. is lacking in quaint and charming small towns it’s because we’re hogging them all! anyhoo, it’s a good spot for a cold one, a visit to the general store (old fashioned candy counter anyone?), and a stroll along the creek. and it’s not too far from evergreen (11 miles) so we had to take k & t to do a little wine sampling. had to. and then on to the celtic fest…

travis skirt kilt shopping. and yes he did. and yes, we made him wear it proper. well, almost.

… two doors down from us is the oldest house in edgewater (ours is one of the five oldest) and it’s a permanent museum/community garden. we would love to do a little gardening but have (way) too much on our plates as it is so another summer maybe. do you garden? what do you grow? we’d grow okra for sure…

life in the fast lane

dbg-flowers-2

happy monday!! we had the best weekend.. busy & fun, perfect balance. he finished painting, only the baby loo is left for walls to be painted (which will later be wallpaper). we hung pictures and although we have a ways to go, it’s feeling more and more like home. in sad news, the golden egg that we so loved, has enjoyed it’s last day at camp1899. it was sold to us as a refrigerator but despite all of our tweaking and upon all of our research we’re resigned to the fact that it is in fact a freezer only. when not in freezer mode it drips from each shelf (the coils run along the shelves) and we are over the dripping. it is an amazing freezer, if only that was what we needed. ); tomorrow.. the new fridge gets delivered. we searched for another vintage but the cards kept turning up for new (he is not so secretly happy about this). so part of yesterday was spent under the house running the water line for the ice maker (we are sure that if we lived in europe we would forever lament having no ice at the ready because we have missed ice a lot, especially now that it is finally summer!).

somehow i’ve made it this far in life and had not seen the movie nightmare on elm street, serious cult classic stuff. loved it. you would think, even not having seen it, that the plot would have been given away for me by now, but no, i had no idea that freddy lived in the dream world. like i said, good. stuff. he of course saw it when he was like 10 and it scared the bejeezus out of him. do you have any movies that scare (or scared) you? i love a thriller, not so many scare me, at ten, for sure, but now.. not so much. and we watched a current movie, lest you think we are permanently stuck in the 80′s, gone. have you seen it? we give it a thumbs up.

we went to edgewaters first farmers market of the summer, it starts at the end of our street so no complaints from us on walking a whole 30 seconds each week for fresh produce. our first green peas of the summer. we played chit chat with friends over a little firefly and met some new friends for a great sunday evening in golden. and as promised, part 2 of the denver botanical garden visit from when mamma mia was here, if you haven’t been yet, it doesn’t disappoint!

»»» walking around the lake yesterday we spotted this baby beaver.. it was busy going from shore to underneath a floating dock building a dam… one tiny stick at a time (in the second photo you can just barely see the stick). so cute, we’re hoping to watch it grow.. if it’ll be out & about as much? the last photo is the very closest i came to getting a perfect shot of a fish jumping high in the air going for a little sunshine. apparently i need to figure out my shutter speed better.. it’s on my to-do list.

hello monday.

did you have a good valentine’s day? we celebrated with a coffee date & snoopy and i didn’t come up empty handy in the valentine department either, my favorite part.. the card. plus, we got the best news.. the neglected vacant house next door sold and is about to receive a major overhaul. we did a major happy dance. we also went for multiple walks and were totally caught off guard when this bicycle blew by us..have you ever ridden one of those? we rediscovered how amazing peanut butter & jelly sandwiches are and have started counting the days till daylight savings time. hope you had a good week too♥

how was your weekend? we marveled at MORE snow. i wore my newest faux fur thrift find. he took a 2 hour nap & i was hungry every five minutes. we had sushi with this cutie pie redhead & her little red headed mama.. and papa who we didn’t get a photo of. we watched a star wars marathon. bought a ticket for the lotto {325 mil} and sadly didn’t win. watched the grammy’s and fell head over heels for adele… {a little late to the game we know.. but better late than never}. hope you had a good one!
