echo lake lodge is completely charming. we felt like we had stepped back in time a few years to what lake lodges were like in the 60′s.. cozy, inviting, a little kitsch and perfect for a long weekend. the lodge was closing up for winter, icicles already hung from the porch and the wind was frigid. inside is the cutest tourist gift shop we’ve ever been in. there are rooms above the gift shop that face down onto the huge fireplace. (as well as a whole slew of rooms in the main part of the lodge) they have a dining room and snack counter, the lake is a stones throw from the parking lot, and just up the hill is the summit of mt. evans… we’ll definitely be making at least one visit here each year, so fun.

→we had the best time on our day trip to echo lake.. it was the most perfect day. i still can’t get over the scenery here. the road to the lake is the highest paved road in america, ending at just over 14,000ft. the air was so crisp, at home it was 70+ degrees and there only 39…. something about echo lake and the lodge is so charming, i can’t wait to go back.←
