we visited evergreen, one of the most quaint mountain towns this week (and only a half hour from us). we fully intended to walk the town, check out the sites, but uhm.. well, we parked in front of this winery and didn’t really make it anywhere else. we went in to see if creekside offered tastings, they did, and a tad bit later we walked out. bill (owner extraordinaire) took us through many a tastings, was incredibly generous and kind, and surprised us with the first ports (not one, but two) we had ever tried and loved.. the lakehaus port and the lakehaus 10 year tawny port. the first perfect on it’s own or with dark chocolate, the tawny paired with candied walnuts or pecans. and yes, we left with a bottle. (we couldn’t help ourselves!) port in front of our future fireplace… yes, please!
