airstreaming in the petrified forest.

We love getting to take photos of little eddie out & about, of course it isn’t as often since most places we visit after we have arrived and settled in, but the Petrified Forest was a day stop in between Arizona and New Mexico so we had lots of photo opportunities. If it wasn’t so time consuming to hook up and take down we would take eddie to more places just for the fun photos, but he doesn’t like doing the septic line that much… and I can’t blame him for that one!

me, eddie & the wigwam.

5

of all of the quirky roadside attractions out there…
the Wigwam Motel & Teepees were on the top of my list.

i was so excited to see the wigwam motel, if you didn’t know where it was you’d miss it, it isn’t advertised on the main highway and the town it’s in is tiny. it’s located in holbrook, az and is one of seven wigwam motels built from the 30′s-50′s from florida to california.

looky-loo review. rancho sedona.

0

Rancho Sedona is where we stayed while visiting red rock country. It is a very convenient campground, just minutes from the downtown area. The campground is very shaded, which in summer would be welcome relief, as Sedona has a warm climate. Even while visiting in April it was high 70′s, where as just 30 miles North in Flagstaff it was 20 degrees colder (on a good day).

The grounds are very well maintained as were the shower/bathrooms and laundry area. The bathrooms are cleaned early bird early, 5 -6 a.m. so unless you are getting up super early to head out they are fresh and ready to go first thing in the morning. The park was completely full while we were there and everything was always clean and available.

The internet was hands down 100% the best of anywhere we’ve been, as good as being directly connected at home with no one else using it. I miss it. It saved me using my wifi for every little thing and the reception was better than that too.

It’s a paws up review from clark & ellen, if you’re coming to this area, you can’t go wrong, we would bet they stay busy, so call for reservations!

the grand canyon.

have you been? its too pretty to miss..

«a few fun facts & tips about the Grand Canyon»
The Grand Canyon’s average depth is one mile, it encompasses a million acres of land, the width ranges from one half to eighteen miles wide, the South Rim is open year round while the North Rim is only open between May and October. The South Rim is 7000ft above sea level and the North Rim is 8000ft above sea level (with unpredictable weather, snow can fall year round) and receives over 5 million visitors every year. We spoke to one of the guides about best times to visit, temperatures, etc. and she told us that early Spring (before Easter as we were able to do) is one of the very best times because of milder weather and much less traffic. The absolute craziest times are any and all holidays and summer. On our visit it was in the 70′s and quite warm while hiking, she said summer is very hot, much more so than people expect. Traffic and parking are unbelievably congested during both holidays and summer (the park was relatively empty while we visited and parking was still scarce). We felt lucky to have visited during an off time, the trails were almost empty, we had no trouble getting around, if you can it’s nice not to be looky-looing with the masses.
