avenue of giants..

4

we will never forget this day, these trees are ENORMOUS. mind bogglingly so.
(see his nervous face ↓ he was worried about what might be inside the tree)

»»»» see how small I am? without me or him it looks like your average, everyday trees along a walkway. sean’s standing in front of the dyerville giant (it stood for an estimated 1600 years, measures 370 feet tall after falling, is taller than Niagra Falls, is 17 feet in diameter, 52 feet in circumference, and weighs in at (estimated) over 1,000,000 pounds) INSANE.

redwoods are so tall that they live in 3 climate zones at once..

*please & thank you* link back to us if you re-post something you see here.

Amazing! I was in awe when I visited Sequoia Nat’l Park. And the smell of the forest was incredible. Did you experience that too? I love following your adventures. I dream of doing what you are doing. Just got to figure out the income part.

suellen.. we definitely noticed the forest smell..it’s amazing! we were wondering the difference b/w sequoia’s & redwoods and looked it up.. sequoia’s are a bit larger in
circumference and redwoods are a bit taller (in case you wondered too) (; and i hear ya on the income! it has been way more pricey than we imagined and if you ever get close to thinking you’re going to hit the road give us a shout, maybe we can save you a few bucks through our trial & error!!

my favorite place! camped there last september…. was just checking out the RV situation there and wondering if any of the camp sites in the park are RV friendly…? I found a official RV park outside of the park – maybe that where you guys are staying..? Anyways – if you like hiking – then the “little baldy” hike is a “MUST DO”. Just when you think your at the top, you can keep going and it gets even better.

    suzanne…
hi! yes there are three RV spots, Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park, Giant Redwoods RV & Camp, and Riverwalk RV Park.
    R. Grove is in Garberville and although more on 101, it is at the Southern tip of Ave. of the Giants and is by Grandfather Tree, One Log House & Chandelier drive-thru tree is close…
Myers Flat is in the middle of Ave of the Giants and is by one of the other drive-thru trees and is at the Southern base of the heart of the Avenue (both are full hook-up) and Riverwalk is in Fortuna at the far Northern end (but if you were going to Fernadale beforehand is not too far from there)
Thanks for the tip on Little Baldy, we didn’t know about it and missed it on our way thru.. but I’ll definitely bookmark it for next time around (; hope this helps!!
