4000 miles…
5We’ve come a long way baby.. a look at where we’ve traveled so far.
We started in Charlotte, NC, took the highway straight through
South Carolina and Georgia all the way down to Fairhope, Alabama.
This “look back” is from our second starting point… Alabama.
We saw Fairhope, Daphne, and Mobile while in the pelican state.
Next up, M-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i.
We didn’t stay over in Biloxi or Gulfport but we meandered a good deal,
and enjoyed the coastline all along the bottom of the state.
Creole & Cajun were next with Louisiana, and where else? New Orleans.
After leaving the Big Easy, we again meandered along off the hwy
for as long as we could before taking I-10 into Texas.
We boot scooted on through super busy Houston, landing for a few nights in San Antonio.
Traveling on I-90 West we saw a big portion of the Texas/Mexico border,
stayed in Marathon, visited Alpine, Marfa & Valentine and didn’t want to leave.
West Texas holds a special place for us, a favorite stop so far…
(repairs had us on the move before we were ready, next time we’ll be visiting Big Bend)
We came into New Mexico and stayed over in Las Cruces.
We had planned on seeing a little more before heading further West,
but the weather was super cold anywhere slightly North of Las Cruces, so next time.
Our first time through Arizona and they were having fluke winter weather,
we stuck to the interstate and moved on to sunny California.
The second time around we came in via a different route and stayed in Mesa.
We also visited Tempe and Scottsdale before taking the scenic route to Lake Havasu,
our last stop in the Grand Canyon state before Vegas.
While in California we traveled a lot.
We stayed in San Diego, visited all of the arrow marked towns,
(as well as many not on this map)
…enjoyed La Jolla, Laguna, and Huntington Beach.
(all re-visits for us, as we had been a few years back)
..enjoyed Palm Springs, Coronado Island and the Poway area.
then stayed in Twentynine Palms and visited Joshua Tree National Park.
The park was definitely the highlight of California so far.
Rounding us out to this point…Sin City.
Where we’re enjoying the (mostly warm) weather and sightseeing.
Start to finish we’ve driven through & visited 10 states… no grass growing around here…
*please & thank you* link back to us if you re-post something you see here.

Cool to see with the maps, you sure have seen a lot in what seems like a really short time!
I like to map. I’ve love to see it regularly added to features.
thanks j & s!
i am definitely going to continue map posts of our stops,
and a little more regularly than 4000 miles!
thanks for the input (O:
Take me to Vegas with you!!!!
This is really great to see it on the map! To be able to actually see the path of eddie really put the miles in perspective. How cool would it be have a US map as a permanent link on your site?!?!?! And people could link on it whenever and see where you are!
