are we ready???
1Whew. That’s what we were thinking as we pulled out of Charlotte. We ended up losing a few last days in town to escape a big snow & ice storm, good that we escaped, bad for the to-do list. For anyone planning a get-away like ours, be forewarned…no matter how much planning, plotting and packing you do.. the end is chaos.
An obvious step of prevention would be don’t leave in the middle of winter..not rocket-science right?! We left at this time because of finishing holiday work with clients but if you’re more flexible on your pick & choose date, choose not to out-run snow & sleet. All this aside, it was a bit frantic, a lot of not-so-ideal packing and unfinished projects, it felt a little Clampett style as the back of the yeti (our big white suburban) got loaded and all available space in little eddie got loaded down as well. Wasn’t it supposed to be streamlined and everything in its place… do we need ALL of this stuff?? Plan on things not going as planned, this is key or you will be a hot mess in no time.
I had gotten a bit used to this as my plan and his plans weren’t always the same… so when the get-out-of-town-fast plan moved into place I rolled with it and I thank my lucky stars that our first stop was at Charlie & Candy’s house giving us time & space to do said projects and re-group in a home setting.. instead of all willy-nilly at a campground. Thank goodness…sanity saved.
