life in the fast lane
4look what we were up to this weekend… last year we visited roosevelt national park and were anxious to go again. it *just* opened, that’s how short of a season visitors are allowed, july-september. we went with friends and found a new trail to hike leading to isabelle glacier and lake isabelle that was much less crowded, prettier, with tons of wildflowers, and super close parking (parking gets backed up forever here).
the glacier seemed about the same this summer, there was definitely more water along the trail and it was hotter too, although still cooler than denver by about 15 degrees. it’s a 9 mile hike round trip, ending at lake isabelle (on the trail we were on) and if you love hikes this one is beautiful. streams along the path, multiple lakes, fields of flowers, and great views of the rockies.
it rounded out the birthday boys weekend, along with his favorite cake (mint chocolate chip ice cream cake.. all to himself) and the funniest movie we’ve seen in ever.. ted. we laughed from start to finish and can’t wait for the dvd to come out. matt wahlberg, amazing. and we watched sherlock holmes, part two, with robert downey jr and jude law. i wasn’t hyped to see it, i wasn’t a fan of the first one but it was his birthday so… and i was surprised. it was really good. the scene in the woods.. unbelievable, i wish we could have seen it on imax. and as weekends and birthdays do, it all went by too fast. and now it’s july.
i love july.. we have a little anniversary just around the corner. how was your weekend?

he will definitely carry you! BUT!! it is easier than our never ending hike up the mountain when you were here so you’ll have no problem (; love you, t&s
Looks like a fantastic place to go and hike. If I ever get back out to Xanadu (aka Colorado), I’ll try to go there. A few weeks back I was near Great Smoky MTN’s NP and took the hike to Alum Cave Bluffs which was nice, but not like these photos.
