This was one of my favorite albums as a kid, it was one of the first to be slapped with parental advisory, later (after initial release) they were forced to change the album cover and only this was shown ↓

Last night we got to see a new group (to us), an old favorite that we’ve never seen live and a favorite for the 4th time for me and 3rd time for Tiffany. It was an indoor show, which had been awhile since seeing a great concert in a smaller venue versus outside for the masses. As we got to the venue the lines were literally around the block(s) since the majority of the tickets were open floor, general admission. We took a detour for 45 minutes and grabbed a beer since we were smart/ lucky enough to have purchased two of the few seats available…which we didn’t sit in but secured us a front row, first tier balcony view. First up was New York Dolls who had a short set, not really our cup of tea but from what we understand were huge inspirations to Motley Crue.
There wasn’t much downtime in between as huge crews switched out sets so Poison came on about 15 minutes later. Their show reminded me of when I saw them back in 1990, being in a small enclosed venue the show was more intimate and the quality was ten fold. Poison had a 12 song set list and played every song but one that we wanted to hear (I Won’t Forget You). Next up the finale Motley Crue who, without preamble, exploded onto to stage with major fireworks. Having not seen them before we didn’t really know what to expect and the stage and theatrics blew us away. Vince Neil sounds exactly like he did thirty years ago and we were fortunate enough to see Tommy Lee with one of his designer drum sets rigged up on a loop de loop like a roller coaster that twirls Tommy and the drum set 360 degrees. One lucky girl from the audience got to go on stage and ride with him while he played. Motley Crue played everything you would expect and between the fireworks, pyrotechnics, girls on stage and music they put on a hell of a show.. my ears are still ringing. Overall we still feel that Poison was the better of the two, but we can’t wait to see both again in the future.

One of the greatest bands ever. With big hair bands what you hear on their albums is exactly what you (still) get at a show today. I saw Cinderella earlier in the year, it was an indoor show, during a monsoon rain and it was raining on stage..inside…and they still rocked it. That’s 80′s big hair at it’s finest.
