happy anniversary

fourteen years ago at sunrise on the beach we became mr & mrs. we eloped. it was me, him, the minister and two witnesses. a small affair. we are so happy to have chosen to elope, one of our best decisions among many good and not so good ones. we didn’t know all that much about a lot of things at the time, it was more luck than anything, but we know for sure that had we had the big wedding we’d now be looking at pictures of two different people and wondering what the hell we were thinking when we chose this or that.

to elope or not. when we got married we didn’t know our taste just yet, we weren’t all that firm in anything. we wouldn’t have been able to choose timeless wedding things like flowers and cake, attire, music, invitations, everything. all of the things that go into planning a wedding versus a marriage. we would now have pictures to prove just how little we did know.

did you have a big wedding, elope, small intimate wedding, or no wedding at all? are you happy with what you chose, or would you go back and do it all different? we’d love to hear your thoughts!

…and to my sweet husband, thanks for the ride that is marriage, and for the fourteen years so far…i love you.

    Happy Happy Anniversary T & S!! I’d say we’re pretty happy with what we chose for that time in our life, we sure have some great pictures and memories…best party ever at that point! I loved our Holiday Winter wedding theme. If we were to meet now in 2012 and get hitched…hmmmm, this is how I’d do it: Very small wedding… in our backyard, on our lake with a barbecue celebration:) Wildflowers, succulents, linen…simple Summer loveliness. Would still keep our music that we were introduced with at the reception…The Glider from Thomas Crown Affair – timeless and still give me tingles:)

    Ahhhhhh….. So sweet! Congrats on 14 years. We were married on the top of Keystone Moutain. It is a beautiful setting with an intimate feel. We loved it. The only thing I would change…not stressing about it all and enjoying the moment. That is really all that matters :)

    Congratulations! We wouldn’t change a thing – our wedding was so perfectly us! We got married at a beautiful church in downtown Seattle and then had a rockin’ party at the Space Needle! Luckily we had the sense to choose simple and elegant everything so I don’t cringe looking at my photos! I’ve thought many times if I would encourage my kids to go for the big wedding or do just a smaller, intimate affair and I really think both are fabulous, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the future (if they choose to marry).

      as head over heels about seattle as we are, if we had been married there i don’t think anything would have been a mistake, and to have your reception at the space needle.. ah-mazing!!!! and with your 4 kiddos you might just get one of everything! (;
