we stumbled on Torrey Pines on our out-without-a-map-bike-trip (see below) and after watching the hang gliders for awhile took the gliderport trail down to black’s beach (which btw is a very steep & rugged 300ft trip down before adding the 2 bikes in tow). later we found out that it’s also the largest nude beach in the united states, needless to say we were this close to getting more view than we bargained for. (wanna see the views from a glider.. go here for more info)

part two..

this is how the day started out……we went for a bike ride, so simple. a new bike path, just out the entrance to our campground. he looks online at a map and off we go. we get to the end of the bike path, left or right? seft heads towards the beach, we go left. as it turns out, left meant 3+ miles straight uphill. (never mind this is only my second day on a bike in like a year)

ok, it was hard, but we made it, surely nothing but better from here. THIRTY miles later and with zero exaggeration, 20 of the 30 were UPHILL. not ant hills either, some were gradual, most were steep. he thinks we may have needed (me or him) to look at a map. closer. in detail. YOU THINK???? i didn’t think i would make it. he wondered if i would still want to be married after this little joy ride was over. this was a very good thought on his part. when we were asked about taking this route by fellow campers he said… do you like your wife? do you want to stay married?
